White Screen

Instant pure white fullscreen for monitor cleaning, webcam lighting, photography, and digital tracing.

What it does

Pure White Display

Renders exact #FFFFFF — no gamma shift, no off-white tint — so you see every smudge, stuck pixel, or dust particle on your screen.

Brightness Control

A brightness slider lets you dial from blinding-white down to a comfortable 20% for dark-room tracing or nighttime use without eye strain.

Warm / Cool Tint

Toggle between warm (2700K amber), neutral, and cool (6500K daylight) to match the ambient light in your workspace or simulate a photography light source.

True Fullscreen Mode

Uses the Fullscreen API so your entire panel — bezels to bezel — turns white. Click anywhere, press F, or tap the button. Press ESC or double-click to exit.

Works on Any Device

Tested on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on desktop, iPad, and Android. No installation, no account, no data sent to any server.

When to use this

Monitor cleaning

Before wiping your screen with a microfiber cloth, open white screen to highlight every fingerprint, smudge, and dust particle that would be invisible against desktop wallpaper.

Dead pixel detection

A solid white background makes dark or stuck pixels immediately obvious. Pair with the Dead Pixel Test tool to cycle through all colors for a thorough check.

Webcam fill light

Open white screen on a second monitor and angle it toward your face for a free, soft fill light during video calls or YouTube recordings.

Artist digital lightbox

Place thin paper (75 gsm or lighter) over your tablet or monitor, reduce brightness to a comfortable level, and trace reference images without a separate light table.

Photography backdrop

Use a laptop screen showing white-screen as a small but effective backdrop for product close-up shots or macro photography when you lack a lightbox.

Why a Browser-Based White Screen Beats Paint or Word

Most people reach for Microsoft Paint or a blank document when they need a white display. The problem: every desktop application leaves a title bar, taskbar, or window border that breaks the uniform white field. This matters most when cleaning — those UI chrome elements catch reflected light and create visual noise that hides the very smudges you're trying to find.

A proper Fullscreen API implementation eliminates every pixel of browser chrome. The white goes edge to edge, corner to corner, making it dramatically easier to spot fingerprints and dust on glossy screens.

Color Temperature and Why It Matters for Lighting

Professional photographers and videographers describe light in Kelvin. Candlelight is around 1800K, a standard incandescent bulb is 2700K, noon daylight is 5500K, and overcast shade is 6500K. When you use a white screen as a fill light, the color temperature determines whether skin tones look warm and flattering or cool and clinical.

The warm/cool toggle in this tool shifts the CSS filter to approximate these color temperatures. 2700K (warm) works well for interview-style video calls and portrait photography. 6500K (cool) is closer to daylight and works better for product photography where you want accurate color reproduction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a white screen safe for my monitor?

Yes. Displaying a solid white image is no different from any other static image. It does not harm LCD, OLED, or IPS panels. On OLED screens, extended static white at full brightness can contribute to uneven wear over many hours, so reduce brightness if you plan to leave it on for a long time.

Does it actually reach full brightness?

The tool displays #FFFFFF at maximum CSS brightness. Your monitor's actual peak brightness (nits) is controlled by your OS or monitor hardware settings — this tool cannot exceed that limit, but it maximises it.

Can I use it as a ring light for my webcam?

Yes. A large monitor displaying white-screen acts as a diffused panel light. Position the screen slightly off to the side and above eye level, about 2–3 feet away, for flattering, natural-looking illumination.

Does it work on mobile and tablets?

Yes. On iOS and Android the display enters a soft-fullscreen mode (fixed position, full viewport) since mobile browsers restrict the Fullscreen API. Tap anywhere to enter, two-finger tap to exit.

Why use this instead of just opening a blank Word document?

Word and Paint leave toolbars, menus, and title bars visible. This tool covers every pixel including the area behind the taskbar, gives you a brightness slider, and enters true hardware fullscreen via the Fullscreen API.

Will leaving the white screen on damage my OLED monitor?

Short sessions (under 30 minutes) carry negligible risk. For extended use on OLED, reduce brightness to 50% or lower and enable pixel-shift if your monitor has it. LCD/IPS panels are not at risk.

Can I download the white image?

You don't need to — a 1×1 white PNG scales to any size. But you can screenshot the fullscreen view with your OS screenshot tool (Cmd+Shift+3 on Mac, Print Screen on Windows).
