Frequently asked questions

Afterpay or Klarna — which should I support?
Both, if you can. They’re slightly different: Afterpay skews younger and is fashion/beauty-heavy; Klarna has broader category penetration and stronger Northern European presence. Stripe lets you enable both and the customer picks. The fee differential (5.99% vs 6.0%) is negligible.
Why is Afterpay/Clearpay more expensive than cards?
The 6% covers Afterpay’s underwriting risk and consumer credit losses. Afterpay pays the merchant upfront and chases the consumer for the four installment payments — if the consumer defaults, Afterpay absorbs it.
