The italic lowercase "h" uses U+210E (Planck constant) — Unicode reserved that position. Digits remain plain ASCII (no italic digits exist in this block).

Frequently Asked Questions

Will italic text show up in my TikTok bio?

Yes. All five italic variants render reliably on iOS and Android TikTok apps. The compatibility matrix at the bottom of the page is dated and reflects manual paste tests on the latest TikTok version.

Will italic captions hurt the algorithm?

Captions use plain-text matching for hashtags, mentions, and keyword detection. Styled italic Unicode is not the same as the input characters, so the algorithm cannot match keywords inside italic text. Use italic for the decorative parts of your caption and keep important keywords in plain text.

Why does the script variant have those weird glyphs for some letters?

Eight script uppercase positions (B, E, F, H, I, L, M, R) and three script lowercase positions (e, g, o) are filled in from the Letterlike Symbols block because Unicode never assigned them in the Mathematical Script block. This is documented Unicode behavior, not a bug.

Will italic text work on iOS and Android TikTok?

Yes for all five variants on both platforms. The matrix is updated every 90 days and reflects the latest OS versions of each.
