What it does

SCM → SCY preset

Loads with Source = SCM and Target = SCY pre-selected. Type the time, pick the event, see the SCY equivalent.

Same-distance, different-pool conversions

SCM 100 free → SCY 100 free (the same race distance in both pools). The factor reflects only the wall-advantage difference between 25m and 25y, plus a tiny meter-vs-yard distance correction.

NCAA-friendly model selector

Switch the conversion model to NCAA Administrative for recruiting decisions. The factor differs slightly from Classical to match what NCAA uses for championship qualifying.

Roster mode for international rosters

Coaches managing an international roster can paste 30+ SCM times in Roster mode and get back the SCY equivalents in a single batch.

How to use SCM to SCY Swim Time Converter

  1. 1
    Enter the SCM time

Type the time. The parser handles 50, 50.32, 1:48.50, or 15:23.45.

  2. 2
    Pick the event

Stroke + distance. Distance dropdown auto-scopes to SCM events: 50/100/200/400/800/1500 free, 50/100/200 of the form strokes, IM 100/200/400.

  3. 3
Switch to NCAA model if recruiting

Default is Classical. For NCAA recruiting decisions, switch to NCAA Administrative — the model NCAA actually uses.

    Read the SCY result

Headline conversion plus pace per 100, factor disclosure, and time-standard chips when gender and age are set.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert SCM to SCY?

Multiply the SCM time by the stroke- and distance-specific factor. For 100 free, Classical SCM → SCY ≈ 0.913 (so 54.20 SCM ≈ 49.49 SCY). The tool applies the right factor automatically.

Why is my SCY time faster than my SCM time?

25 yards is shorter than 25 meters (a yard is ~0.914 m), so a 25-yard pool produces faster split-by-split times for the same distance label. SCY also has roughly the same wall-advantage as SCM, so the per-race time is slightly faster in SCY.

Is the conversion the same for every stroke?

No. Butterfly and backstroke gain more from short-course turns than breaststroke; the conversion factor is stroke-specific. The tool uses different factors for free, back, breast, fly, and IM.

Which model do US college coaches use?

NCAA Administrative for championship qualifying. Use that model when evaluating a recruit's SCM bests in NCAA terms.

Can I convert a whole roster at once?

Yes. Switch to Roster mode (top of the page) and paste a CSV with one swim per row. Up to 200 swims per batch. Convert all to SCY and export as CSV/JSON.

Will my data be uploaded?

No. Times stay in your browser. Roster mode is intentionally export-only — permalinks for rosters are disabled.
