Stripe offers discounted pricing to eligible US 501(c)(3) nonprofits — 2.2% + 30¢ instead of 2.9% on domestic cards. The discount is applied via Stripe Climate / Stripe Nonprofit programs and requires application. Outside the US, similar nonprofit programs exist in Canada, the UK, Ireland, and Australia.

How do I get the nonprofit rate on Stripe?
Email Stripe support with your IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter (or equivalent in other countries). Stripe verifies eligibility manually — typically takes 5–10 business days. Once approved, the rate change applies prospectively to new charges. The calculator on this page uses the standard rate; subtract approximately 0.7% from the percent component for a verified nonprofit estimate.
Does the nonprofit discount apply to international cards?
The base rate is reduced (e.g., from 2.9% to 2.2%) but the +1.5% international surcharge still applies on top. So nonprofit international card rate is approximately 3.7% + 30¢ in the US.
Are donation processing fees tax-deductible?
For the donor: typically yes — most jurisdictions allow donors to deduct the full donation amount including any fees they cover. For the nonprofit: processing fees reduce net donation revenue but are a normal operating expense.
