Stripe Billing adds 0.5% to every recurring charge on top of the standard processing fee. So a US subscription charged on a domestic card costs 2.9% + 30¢ + 0.5% Billing = ~3.4% + 30¢ effective. The 0.5% funds Stripe’s subscription engine: proration, dunning ("Smart Retries"), customer portal, invoicing, tax handling.
