If the dashboard shows Copilot as degraded, it’s on GitHub’s side. Otherwise: (1) check your subscription is active in github.com/settings/copilot, (2) sign out and back in, (3) update the Copilot extension, (4) verify your file type isn’t blocked.
Is Copilot affected by OpenAI outages?
Historically yes — Copilot has used OpenAI models. Recent versions also use Anthropic models, so a single-provider outage may not take Copilot fully offline. Check both the Copilot and OpenAI cards above.
